I just purchased a RC8.2 second hand from my LHS. I wanted to get some suggestion for the everything on this racer. It has some servos that I plan to replace. I don't mind going electric or nitro either is great for me.

The track I race on is a mid-sized dirt/dusty track. It's a pretty technical track most of the time. Most guys use the AKA Enduro tires on buggies, so I guess I know what tires to use, but I am basically starting from scratch.

    Help:eek:

Well,I'm looking for a lot of info. I mainly want to put the car of the track. I wanted to start with athe power. What electric or nitro engine would you recommend for the rc8.2. I know I'm in thewrong forum, but I'm kind of leaning towards nitro.

    What's your budget? :)

I assume you already have your transmitter and receiver, if not, add another 200$ I didn't list the tires and wheels

Here is a rough estimate... Hope I didn't forget something :)

    Nitro:
    Engine...225$
    Tuned pipe... 75$
    Starter box...80$
    LiPo for starter box...20$
    Fuel... 60$ for 2 gallons
    Spare glow plugs...12$
    Glow starter... 20$
    Receiver packs.... 50$
Charger for receivers packs and starter LiPo... 75$
    2 servos... 200$
    Total: 817$

    Electric:
    ESC/Motor combo... 300$
    1 servo... 100$
    Good charger... 150$
LiPo batteries(2)... 150$ (Price varies from brand to brand)
    econversion kit... 125$
    Total: 825$

I guess my best bet would be to go nitro, because I already have a starter box and reciever packs. I guess in the long run I would save money. I do want to know what engine and servos you were mentioning in that estimate. I know more and more people are looking for "smooth" performance from their engines. I guess that is where I want to go also. What engine would give me long run time and smooth performance without breaking the bank. I guess my budget is $300.

I love my Reedys but there is a ton good "budget" engines out there. The Werks B5 is a very popular choice.

Also Novarossi P5 or Plus 4 both GREAT engines.

I was thinking about going reedy. I have never had one. I see the 121vr and the 121vr-st. What is the difference between the two? I also see tower has the zrx.21 spec 2 would that also be a good engine?

So just looking at the 121vr and the 121vr-st the st looks like it will rev up faster and the bearings are going to last longer right? right now that one is only $10 outside of my budget. I may run with it.

If you choose a Reedy engine, get the 2035 tuned pipe

Oh I forgot. Servos. Sorry. I guess that wasn't my last question. What servos would you recommend? since I am going nitro I know I will need one for the throttle and one for the brake.

I use Team Associated DS1015 for all my cars and trucks and I like them. Don't go under 200oz of torque for steering and brake. Some prefer servos with 300+ oz but I never had to complain about my DS1015

Good and cheap servo is Savox 1258,

That's my opinion... Others ones opinion can differ! LOL
