I just finished building a new RC18B2 from the B2/T2 kit. It all went together fairly easily but it doesn't roll very well (like there is a hung bearing or something). I checked all the bearings as I put it together and they were all fine and I have the belt tensioner for the front belt set at its loosest setting but it rolls like the brakes are always on. I know new belts tend to be stiff but this is much tighter than I'd expect. Any suggestions for what to look for before I start tearing stuff off?

Did you check the gear mesh?

Try spinning the drivetrain with the belt remove. You'll find if the problem is from the rear, front or the belt

It is tight even with the motor removed just rolling it across the table. When I get time I will remove the belt covers and see if I can spot the problem. The diffs both moved smoothly before I installed them and all of the bearings seemed fine but something is hanging up now. If I don't find anything else I may try putting the unit up on blocks and chucking up a nutdriver in my drill and turning the whole drivetrain (slowly) to see if it frees up as the belts work in.

I know the belt needs a break in period.

Let us know what you'll find!

Just a general asphalt or cement tire, I've been having a tough time searching.

Yes, this is quite difficult to find setup sheets for the RC18 now

But for onroad, I would first try to stiffen the suspension with ticker oil and maybe stiffer springs first. This is a cheap start

Would you recommend buying the wheels off of associateds website or is there a cheaper source?
