    I received a Reedy Sonic 13.5 motor

    What do you think is a "safe" gearing to start with? I thought about 29/72 and see how the esc and motor overheat or not

    These are AE start points.

    T4/4.1 > 18/87
    B4/4.1 > 20/81
    SC10 > 21/84

    ===

    Per >>> rcgearhead.com

    FDR 7.0
    B4.1 > 27/72 (FDR 6.93)

    FDR 8.0
    T4 > 23/72 (FHR 8.14)

    FDR 9.7
    SC10 19/72 (FDR 9.85)

    Yes, gearing in the B4 manual are kind of weirdos for the 13.5.... 20/81

    Your suggestion is pretty much what I was thinking. Gonna give a try and see what kind of performance and heat I'll get

    I ordered a bunch of pinions and spurs to play with

    My boosted 17.5 is as fast as a 13.5
    And my gearing is 24/81
